Why You Should Not Delay

Welcome to EstateLaw.net.

On these pages, we'll help you start thinking about a subject every adult should face, sooner rather than too late:

"Who will care for my family, and who will get my property, when (not if) I die?"

Our goal as estate planners is to make it less confusing for you to sign the necessary documents that will be YOUR estate plan, documents which identify the people who will care for your family and ensure that your property reaches the people you, rather than State Law, select.

On the next page, we describe four documents everyone should have prepared and sign... and we review the most important decisions you need to make in developing a plan.

Even if the federal estate tax, or "death tax", is phased out for people who die in the year 2010 (as enacted), there will still be a need for estate planning. And, if the value of your estate, including retirement accounts and life insurance, exceeds $1 million during 2002 and 2003, you should plan now to avoid or minimize taxes for your family.
